From brushcuts in his barber chair as a kid, to buying pea shooters and hockey sticks as a youth at their shop, to he and Iris being lifetime friends and dance partners of my parents, next door neighbours, an icon of local sports, quick wit and a tease, Doug will always hold treasured memories in my heart - rest now Doug, you have left a legacy for others to aspire to!

I have so many fond memories of Doug as a former neighbour and family friend for my entire life, it is hard to know where to start. My son Christopher spent time with him over the years and his loving nickname for Doug was " Dodo the barber " sums it up, so great with kids, so comically funny and mischievous... he is sure to be " up to no good " with his band of angels alongside.... Rest in peace Doug ... Beamsville won't be the same without you.

Doug will be missed by our entire community. It was always nice to see Doug at the arena or the ball field and he truly enjoyed simply watching the kids play. Of course he always had a soft spot in his heart for the local teams. We will all miss him greatly.

I have known Doug for many years through his involvmenet with fastball and hockey. He was always a sportsman with a teasing jocular "Hello" whenever we met at various sporting venues. Doug was always concerned about positive life opportunities that the youth could achieve through their involvment with sports. He was also a great family man as he would proudly discuss what and how they were doing. Such a special person as Doug will be greatly missed. God bless.

Frank and family, My family was honoured with your dad's prescence at a visitation for my mom last year. He was so frail yet he made the effort to come out. I will always remember walking home from school past the barber shop and getting teased by your dad, and also his involvement in sports. Both your parents were lovely people.

When my father was in his later years at 120 Ontario Street, he became blind and deaf. This didn't stop him from venturing up to get the mail, but on more than one occasion, he walked right past his house on the return trip, ending up somewhere down the street by Doug's barber shop. Doug would down tools, leave the shop, and accompany my dad back to his door. Yet one more mark of the man that was Doug.

My condolences to the Robinson family. I knew Doug and Iris Robinson when I was young boy. After we moved to Ottawa I would always see them when visiting Beamsville. My parents knew Doug and Iris going back to their arrival in Beamsville in the 1940s. The Robinsons were instrumental builders in the Beamsville sports world. A few years ago, Mr. Robinson he told me about the day of the 1947 Intermediate OHA Championship game at the old Grimsby arena. It was sold out and my Dad, a member of the Grimsby team, arranged to help them into the arena through a side window. It was a great time and they were able to witness the Peach Kings win the Championship. The Robinsons provided Beamsville residents with many l good memories.
