Dear Margaret: My sincere sympathy to you and your family in the passing of Merle. You may or may not remember me from Glenn's trip to Italy and Greece in 2009. My parents are Clare and Nora Shantz who I believe you knew from Ontario Mennonite Bible School. My parents were active at Erb St. Mennonite Church in Waterloo over the years, My most recent trip with Glenn was to China in October where I met your son, Roger. Dorothy and Doug were also on the trip. I understand that over the years you have loving cared for Merle. Bless you for faithfully looking after him. I know you will miss him and the routines that you had developed together. As you adjust to a new way of life I know that your friends and family will want to help you. Please let them. Sincerely, Elizabeth Shantz

To Margaret, Ruth Ann, Dennis, Roger, & Joyce and families. Your memories will be rushing in upon you today. You are especially in our thoughts and prayers and we are sorry to have missed being with you. I have good recollections of delicious fried chicken Sunday dinners at the Hoover's home, the big chicken barbeque in the summer time, the goldfish in the lily padded pond beside the house, and Dennis' latest scientific experiments. Merle would sometimes be persuaded to take Ruth Ann and I for a boat ride on Sunday afternoon when I happened to be there. The longest one I recall, was to Burlington. Love, Lynn & Elaine. The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you , the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Numbers 6: 24-26
