SIMPSON, Charles McLaughlan, Dec. 30, 1922 - Feb. 7, 2015
Charlie passed away peacefully in his 94th year at Niagara Hospice Stabler Centre, 403 Ontario St, St Catharines after complications from a fall. Cherished husband of Margaret (Ashmore) for more than 64 years. Survived by Margaret & his brother Crawford Simpson. Beloved Father and Hero of Karen Konkle & her husband Ted and the late Jon Simpson (Marie) of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Predeceased by his brothers Robert, John, Will & his parents, Robert & Martha.
Grandpa will be sadly missed by Jessica and Drew (Moore), and the "Michigan Contingent", Jordan and Lori Simpson, Ashley Simpson and Amanda & Chad Vandermeulen as well as Great-Grandchildren Addison & Emmalyn, Hudson, Brynlee & Breslynn.
Charlie was very active and enjoyed life to its fullest. He worked for Canada Department of Agriculture as an Fruit Insect Specialist for 35 years and had a passionate interest in photography and botany. He was very fortunate to enjoy 33 years of retirement as a Snowbird with his wife and best friend, Margaret. He was actively involved with the St Catharines and Dunedin, Florida branches of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society for over 50 years and was an extraordinary dancer & teacher. He continued to dance after his knee replacements, which is a clear testament to his stubbornness!
Charlie's sense of humour & his kind and gentle soul will be missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place and a Sharing of Memories will be held at Tallman's Funeral Home, Vineland in the Fireside Room, 3277 King St, Vineland, on Saturday, February 21st from 2 to 4pm.
In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to Niagara Hospice, The Stabler Centre.
Our family would like to thank all the workers and volunteers at The Stabler Centre who made this difficult time infinitely more bearable.
