Obituary of Harry Reid
Harry Reid, a lifelong Beamsville resident and WWII veteran, passed away at the St Catharines hospital on May 17, 2015 in his 91st year. Born Oct. 15, 1924 to Harry Nelson Sr. and Irene (Garlett). Harry was a loving husband to his wife Eleanor (predeceased Jan 2015), their marriage celebrated its 68th anniversary last summer. Harry greatly missed Eleanor over the last few months, but was surrounded by family and his new friends at Anchor Pointe retirement home in St. Catharines. He is remembered as an active person, who enjoyed lawn bowling, golf, fishing and his early retirement winters in Florida. He was a loving, proud and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was cherished by his family.
Harry is predeceased by his brother Ralph (Pud) and his parents. He is survived by his sister-in-law Jean Reid. He will be greatly missed by his five boys and their families. Harry is father to Ken (Maxine), Harry Jr., (Sherry), Doug (Leslie), Jack and Rick. Loving grandfather to James (predeceased), Kevin (Lisa), Stephanie (Craig) Nagel, Sally (Kalen), Emma (Ed) Walsh, Gracie, Erin (Don) Walsh, Mark (Magda) and Phil. Harry was a proud six time great-grandfather to Carson Reid, Claire and Zachary Nagel, Mason Walsh and Owen and Taylor Walsh.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Tallman Funeral Home, 4998 King St., Beamsville on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 2-4pm and 7-8:30pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 1:30pm in the Chapel with reception to follow at the Beamsville Legion Branch 612. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.
