Obituary of John Peter Fast

Fast, John Peter (November 24, 1924 - July 17, 2015) - Passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Friday, July 17, 2015 after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Erna and cherished father of Dorothy, Dennis (Bonnie) and Doug (Kerry). Loving Opa to Melissa (Kevin), Kristen (Steve), Ally and Jay. Also survived by brother Pete Fast and sisters Minna and Anne. Predeceased by sister Tina and brothers-in-law Ben, John and Tom. John will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John was retired from General Motors where he was employed for 25 years. He was an active member of the St. Catharines United Mennonite Church and will be dearly missed by his church community. John enjoyed his time volunteering at church and at the Christian Benefit Shop and helping family and friends. Family and friends will be received by the family at the St. Catharines United Mennonite Church, 335 Linwell Rd, on Monday, July 20, 2-4 and 7-8:30pm. The funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday at 11:00am. Interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated.
