Obituary of Clare Geddes
GEDDES, Rev. Clare Alexander - Passed away peacefully on November 12, 2015 at Albright Manor Nursing Home in Beamsville, Ontario at the age of 84. Born April 11, 1931 in Toronto, Clare graduated from Emmanuel College, U of T and was ordained as a United Church minister in 1959. Clare served four pastoral charges at churches in western Canada and Ontario. In 1979, he went on to serve 17 years as a prison and hospital chaplain until his retirement. Clare is survived by his wife Peggy, his children Craig (Cindy) & Carol (Ilhami) from his first marriage to Doris Geddes, his step children Carolyn (James), Michael (Jenny), Andrew (Kayla) & Suzanne (Mario), his ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Albright Manor for the exceptional care and compassion they gave Clare.
Following cremation, a private interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. A memorial service will be held in Beamsville at a later date. Donations may be made in Clare’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association (diabetes.ca) or the United Church Mission & Service Fund (united-church.ca/funding/msfund).
