Obituary of Barbara Ann Troup
Barbara Ann Troup (Robb) passed away peacefully on December 24th in her 90th year. Loving wife of Erland Troup for 65 years, she was predeceased by her sister Evelyn Fleiger. Barbara’s family includes daughter Susan Troup (Beaton Sheppard) of Newfoundland, son Robert Troup (Lorraine) of Jordan Station and daughter Heather Troup (Bob Hooshley) of Mississauga. She kept track of, and made special all the birthdays of her seven grandchildren, Nye and Cei Sullivan, Sybil Grandchamp, Matthew Troup, Michelle, Lorne and Rachel Hooshley. She enjoyed visits and time spent with her 5 great-grand children, Alicia, Madilyn, Emma, Jakob and Paige. Her caring extended to her cherished nieces and nephews across North America with who she remained in touch through cards, letters and visits.
Barbara was born in Vineland, Ontario and attended Beamsville High School. A graduate of Macdonald Institute, Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph, she married Erland in 1950 and spent her adult years on the family farm in Jordan Station. Barbara was active in community life and served on the Board of Governors of Niagara College, as a Councillor for the Town of Lincoln and as a School Trustee. She worked as a nursery school teacher at Jordan Public School and enjoyed being a member of the Lincoln History Club and Jordan Station United Church.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Albright Manor for their kindness and care of Barbara. A celebration of life will be held at the Vineland Chapel of the Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King Street, on Sunday, January 10 at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jordan Station United Church in Barbara’s name.
