I was so so sorry to hear about Ron. I called today to see whether my husband Frank Scott, who graduated with Ron in medical school and I could see him. I am coming for my 45 th nursing reunion in June.
I know my husband will be so saddened by this news they were such good friends and thenRon was my friend too. He was an usher at our wedding. Unfortunately we lost touch when we moved to Denver.
Such a huge loss for so many I am so sorry. Please do not hesitate to email us.

I have only just learned of Ron's passing. Upon finding that photo of his sweet face in the paper, it was a very sad reminder of the young man I knew. Church, school, and childhood friendship.....some lovely memories. I'm so very, very sorry for the family's loss. Too soon, and too huge a loss.
My condolences.

How sad for Ron and his family that all went through this. Ron was in my meds school class. We used to skip anatomy in first year to drive to Ottawa to ski. Although I worked in Kingston too, we rarely met up as we worked in entirely different worlds. When we did, it was as old classmates.

Saddened to see that Ron has died rather young. Condolences to family.
I worked with Ron for many years at Child and Family Unit, Dept of Psychiatry (and in my case, also Psychology) Kingston General Hospital. Ron worked primarily with Young
Offenders. He worked very hard and took no time for socialising. We used to refer adolescents to Camp Outlook and I always found it to be therapeutic.

My condolences to Ron's family and friends for their loss, and my thanks to Ron for all he has given the world in his lifetime. Ron's is a living legacy. Well over 1000 young adults have been giving the opportunity to volunteer with Camp Outlook and thousands more youth have been able to experience the gifts nature has to offer and the chance to change their reality and become part of something positive. This is a very special and unique organization, started by Ron and continued by people who share his vision and passion for youth, wilderness and healing lives. Blessings.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to Ron's family. I hope that you take comfort in knowing how much he meant to so many, and great pride in the legacy he left in Camp Outlook. When I joined Outlook back in the late 1970s, he was still very close to the camp. He was always available to provide support and advice to the new Camp leaders who tried to follow his footsteps and to create a community of inclusion on wilderness trips, whether summer or winter. It was this community, that involved both fun and responsibility, that helped to give youth a new outlook on life. While the youth benefitted, so often it was the staff themselves who were the most changed by their volunteer time with Outlook. We will remember him.
Sincerely,
Barbara Martin

I first met Ron when I was a summer camp director with Camp Outlook in the mid '70's, then later in my career we share a third floor on Barrie Street where we each provided services to young offenders involved with Family Court. He was a quiet quirky brilliant man with a strong commitment to the kids he saw and to the outdoors. I always liked him, and I'm sorry to hear of his death.
My condolences to the family.

My deepest condolences on the passing of Ron Kimberley. I met him through Camp Outlook in Kingston in 1976 when I was in med school and worked several summers there as a counsellor. I was at Queens with Ron. Camp Outlook counsellor 1971 & 72. Very close friend of Ron at that time. His contribution of founding Outlook is a wonderful legacy. My son Jonathan Sniderman became an Outlook counsellor and Director many years later. So Ron touched many youth, including my family.
I remember being in Beamsville for Ron's mother's funeral. So may he rest in peace with his parents.

We first met Ron when he was a medical student. I was one of his many instructors during his undergraduate years. My wife met him when he was first organizing his camping program.
I came to know him better in later years as a colleague and respected his broad range of knowledge especially in the area of Forensic Psychiatry.
Ron had a gentle manner with patients, acquaintances and colleagues.
Time and distance prohibit our attending his service , but please accept our condolences in your loss. Don and Marilyn Braden

Ron's inspiration and ongoing support of Camp Outlook provided opportunity for truly life-changing experiences, not only for the campers but for the staff as well. We learned and grew through the program, too, and many of us found our lifelong friends and partners, and created paddling families of our own. Another Outlooker is a special kind of friend. Ron's commitment laid a path to adventure and learning for so many; how fitting that the spirit of adventure lives on in Outlook today.

Ron was not only an exceptional practitioner, but his vision in setting up Camp Outlook has had a lasting impact on hundreds of youth who have been Campers over the past nearly half century. His commitment to assisting our most vulnerable young people was evident in all he did. He would make himself available whenever he was asked to support a youth or provide direction to a fellow professional. His legacy will be the passion he brought to the field of at risk youth and youth justice. Rest in Peace Ron, and condolences to his family and friends

Ron's gift of Camp Outlook extended beyond Kingston to touch many people across Canada and overseas. As a long time volunteer of Camp Outlook from Toronto I am deeply grateful to Ron and his family, for Outlook has not only changed the lives of young campers but also the staff that took them out on trips each year.
I hope that Camp Outlook continues to thrive, and the strength and love that Ron's gift projects will help carry you forward in this time.

As a Camp Outlook volunteer, it is my hope that Ron's vision continues, and that we can keep his legacy true to what he envisioned for the Camp.
Though I never met Ron, I have seen and felt firsthand the impact of his actions. Camp Outlook changed my life, and I can say with certainty that it also changed the lives of many of my campers. I can't begin to imagine the impact Ron had on the lives of those who directly knew him. I hope that Ron has left you all with an outlook on life that allows you to continue to touch the lives of others, the way he touched yours.
