Obituary of Anne Marie Doig

Anne Marie Doig (nee Fernick)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne peacefully at St. Catharines General Hospital on Feb. 22, 2024.

Predeceased by her husband Glenn (2007).  Lovingly remembered by her son Dave and daughter-in-law Sherri.  Leaving memories to her beloved grandchildren Dillon Doig (Rhiarn) and Rebekka Shuta (David).  She was a proud great grandma to Lincoln, Stella and Sophie.

Anne was born on Sept 13, 1931 and grew up on her parent’s farm in Grimsby.  She married Glenn in 1952, moving to St. Catharines.  She worked at McKinnons from the age of 15 to 34.  Anne, Glenn and her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Josephine Fernick owned and operated The Jordan Hotel for many years where she enjoyed working long, hard hours.  Later they purchased their farm where she lived out her life and continued these very strong work ethics.  Life’s work well done.

We will be forever grateful for the opportunities she has passed down to us.  Anne was happiest surrounded by all of her family every Christmas Day and toasting to the feast that she had prepared.  She looked forward to Sundays around the pool with family and friends.  Forever in our hearts. Special thanks to Emma and staff at the hospital. 

Visitation will take place at Tallman Funeral Homes (3277 King St., Vineland) on Tuesday February. 27, from 2:00 - 4:00pm & 6:00 - 8:00pm.  A private family burial on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Niagara Health Foundation.
