Edward Andres
Edward Andres died peacefully at Pleasant Manor on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the age of 89.
Ed will be sadly missed by his wife Lois, children Anne Andres-Jones, Susan and John Vriens, Cathy Andres and Rob MacLachlan, predeceased by son-in-law Mike Jones. Proud Opa of Ryan and Amy, Andrea and Brad, Evan and Kristy, Eryn and Sarah, Matthew and Kayla, Jonathan, Andrew and Melissa, Kate and Mark, and eight great-grandchildren. Survived by sisters Elly Kopp, Joyce Hylkema, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers John and Henry Andres, and sisters Hilda Edgar and Joan Delaney.
Ed was always fascinated by anything with an engine, leading to many happy hours boating and snowmobiling, as well as many years of service with the Virgil Volunteer Firefighters, retiring as Chief. This interest in vehicles was also the foundation for his career. He established and built his business, Andres Bell Construction Ltd., with Lois’ support. He continued to pursue his interest in trucks after retirement by participating in truck shows and travelling with the Antique Truck Association. He was a long-time member and supporter of Stamford Presbyterian Church and the Niagara on the Lake Sailing Club. Ed lived life large, working hard and playing hard, enjoying his time with family and friends. What really made his face light up with joy was any time spent with his grandchildren.
A private family interment has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Stamford Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, 1:00 p.m. Following the service, please join us for a gathering at Caroline Cellars 2:30-5:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Red Roof Retreat or Bethesda would be appreciated.
