Harrold and Mona were a wonderful blessing to me and my wife when we pastored at Bonavista Baptist Church in Calgary in the 1980s and 90s. Such beautiful, loving followers of Jesus. We moved to North Bay in 2011, had an opportunity to visit with Mona toward the end of her life, and visited with Harrold every chance we got. So sorry to hear that he has died, and I will miss dropping by for lunch at Swiss Chalet. God blessed many though him and Mona, and I count him among my greatest blessings. - God is so good.

We were saddened to hear of Harrold's passing. What a life he lived! We enjoyed hearing about his family and sharing in the stories of his life. I met Harrold (with two R's) a few years ago walking around the neighbourhood - we bonded over our love of Alberta and walked together from time to time. Over the last year, we enjoyed having Harrold over for dinner (he always requested roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, which I learned to make), and were honoured to include him at our family Christmas dinner this past year. He kept everyone entertained with his stories and his questionable driving skills (he parked his car in the ditch and it took my husband and CAA 40 minutes to get it out)! He never remembered my name, and that was okay...sometimes I was Anne-Marie, sometimes Maria, and most recently Alicia, but he remembered my husband Mario's name - they went for coffee at McDonald's a number of times. He loved the dogs and talking to people in the neighbourhood - his walks surely took hours because he talked to everyone along the way. We will miss him and appreciate the time we had with him. Our condolences to his cherished family.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Harrold. As a neighbour of Harrold's, it was always a pleasure to see Harrold walk by and stop for a chat. He will especially be missed during the summer months when he would stop by for a cup of tea on our patio. I will remember Harrold as a kind and thoughtful person. I was inspired by Harrold's love of learning, and the thoughtful questions he would ask. If I am blessed to be 94 years young like Harrold, I hope to be as he was: to always look at the bright side of life, keep positive, keep learning and keep dreaming and planning for new adventures in life.
Thank you, Harrold.
Love,
Elle, Andy and JBird of Lincoln Ave.

Uncle Harrold will be greatly missed. Anyone who knew Harrold will remember his love for life and his interest in anyone he met.
From my earliest childhood memories, I knew that he cared a lot for me. I will always cherish the time we spent together. One of my childhood memories of him was the time he took me to London, Ontario to visit the Queen (his future bride, my Aunt Monna, who he referred to as the Queen). The last memory was having breakfast with Deb and I this past Easter Saturday on his way to visit his great-granddaughter. So glad we had that time. What a great comfort to know that he is with our Lord, after a lifetime of faithful service.
