Obituary of Shirley Dorothy Vaughn

Vaughn, Shirley Dorothy (nee George) – January 30, 1926 – April 17, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Dorothy Vaughn (nee George) on April 17, 2024 at the age of 98 after a brief illness. She is predeceased by her husband Bill (2016), her son Brian (2006), parents Milne and Sadie George, sister Betty and brother Harry. She is survived by her children Bill (Arden), Bob and Brent, grandchildren Elizabeth (Dave Hemming), Sarah (Justin Downes) and Robert (Pasha Marcynuk) and great-grandchildren Katrina, Anna, Tucker, Chloe, Logan, Haddie and Landon.

Shirley loved her life as a farmer’s wife and a mother of four boys. She doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished their visits immensely. Shirley and Bill enjoyed leisure time together during many vacations to the southern isles and up north at the cottage.

Shirley was a longtime active member of Louth Women’s Institute where she made many lifelong friendships. She also participated in many functions promoting local wine with the Niagara Grape Growers Action Committee. Shirley lived a full, rewarding life surrounded by family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Tallman Funeral Home, 3277 King St. in Vineland on Saturday, April 27th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. A service will immediately follow, after which friends and family are invited to a reception in the Fireside Room for a time of fellowship and continued sharing of memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Living will be greatly appreciated by the family.

Cremation has taken place. The family will have a private interment at a later date.
