Obituary of Catarina Petronella Hendriks

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mom, Catarina Hendriks at the age of 85 on April 20, 2024.  Born in Holland, she immigrated to Beamsville in 1958.

She is survived by her husband Leo of 65 years and children Cathy (Bill), Marian (Kevin) and Brian (Vicki).  Grandchildren: Robert, Michael (Nadine), Madison (Brandon) Nick, Jeff (Irena) Brad (Kate) Melissa (Sebastien) Morgan (Amanda) Quinn (Sean). Great grandchildren: Scarlett, Bella, Victoria, Avery, Jack and Evelyn.

Her greatest joy was her family and feeding anyone who came through her door.  Mom devoted her life to caring for others through Scouting (both here and in Holland), being a foster parent and then a long-term caregiver of 2 medically challenged children.  She also babysat 2 of her grandchildren full time and then became the sole caregiver of her husband Leo in their later years right until 6 weeks before her death.

She was an avid gardener with a multitude of breathtaking splendid gardens.  Mom was a voracious reader and loved discussing and sharing her books.  She enjoyed years of singing in the Lincoln Seniors choir and also loved music.  Her house was never silent; with classical music in the background, and her often humming or singing along.  She was also searching for new interesting recipes to cook and loved baking with her Grandson Robert.  Mom and Dad spent many happy years living part-time in their cozy cottage and exploring Muskoka.  They also enjoyed traveling on multiple scenic bus trips in their senior years.

We would like to thank the following for their special compassionate care with Mom: Dr. Liam Crummey, in-home palliative nurses Tracey and Paul and their wonderful nurses and volunteers of McNally House.

Funeral service will take place in the chapel of Tallman Funeral Homes (3277 King St., Vineland) on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 11am.  1 hour of visiting prior to the service.  Burial to immediately follow the service at Mount Osborne cemetery in Beamsville.  Reception back in the Fireside Room following the interment.
