Obituary of Bernd Triebe

Triebe, Bernd (Bernie) age 75 of St.Catharines, Ontario passed away on Monday April 22nd, 2024 at the St.Catharines General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at New Hope Church (2360 First Street Louth, St. Catharines) on Monday April 29th, 2024 with a visitation at 10:00-11 AM and service to follow. Burial will take place for family afterwards. Zoom option to be available upon request to Christopher Triebe for those unable to attend.

Bernd was born in Heukewalde, Germany December 22, 1948 and grew up in Villingen-Schwenningan. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 19 in 1968. With his dad, Harry, they decided to put Bernd’s education in specialty foods to use and opened Stamford Delicatessen which served Niagara for 42 years. After the closure of the deli, Bernd found joy in providing tours and shuttle services with Niagara Airbus and then later VIA and NRT.

Bernd is survived by his loving wife Eva- Maria (Maria) and his three children Carolyn (Hans) Eich, Monica (Arthur) Vrolyk, and Christopher (Sarah) Triebe. He will be forever missed by his grandchildren Alea and Liliana Eich, Ben, Aidan and Annalise Vrolyk, Capri and Venice Triebe. Lovingly remembered by his sister and brother in law Margot (Helmut) Harder and children, as well as Brother-in-law Michael (Christine) Hahn and children. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Ruth Triebe.
