Obituary of Maggie Anne Ryan
With sadness we announce the passing of Maggie Anne Ryan on Monday, April 29, 2024 at the St Catharines General Hospital.
Maggie Anne Ryan was born April 19, 1952 to loving parents Peter (now 100 years old) and Mary Regier Gossen (2016.) Elizabeth followed 14 months later and Marion arrived six years later. The family moved from Vineland to a farm on Stewart Road and later to Line 2, Virgil.
She attended Eastwood Public School and then Niagara District Secondary School. She was adventuresome and followed her heart to B.C. In 1975 she returned to Ontario. Maggie loved living on the edge and spent time riding on the back of a Harley. Forget Eagles and America - bring on Hendrix, Dylan and Joplin. She loved concerts and watching the Hamilton Ticats. She graduated from nurses assistance program, but spent much of the time in the service industry
Her dedication and service was evident when asked to be a part of the team serving Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip when they came to Niagara on the Lake. She gave the same service to regular customers at Tim Horton’s.
Maggie made her final move in 2019 to Pleasant Manor in Virgil to be closer to the family events. We’re glad she did.
She is survived by her dad, Peter Gossen, sister Elizabeth (Ron) Andres, Erin and Josh Bice, Eli and Chloe, Luke and Rachel Andres, Ruth and Miriam. Sister Marion (Fred) Janzen, Mary Jansen (Steve) and Abigail, Jessica and Erik Nickel, Wesley and Ashley. She is predeceased by her mom, Mary, infant sister and infant niece. Rest in peace.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Thursday May 2, 2024 at 2:30 at the Pleasant Manor Chapel. 15 Elden St., Virgil, followed by a memorial service at 3pm.
Thanks to the St Catharines hospital staff for the four months of compassionate care.
