Obituary of Kimberley Gail Sytsma

Obituary - Kimberley Gail Sytsma – Dec. 26, 1974 – May 17, 2024

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Kimberley Gail Sytsma of Beamsville in her 49th year.

Kimberley went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 17, 2024 at the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton.

Loving wife of Steve Sytsma, daughter of John and (Catherine) Dykstra; sister to Kevin; Jeff and (Consuello); Henry and (Melissa) Dykstra; Darius and (Sophie) Bayegan. Predeceased by her mother Mary Dykstra (Glasbergen) in 2003. Kim will be dearly missed by the Sytsma family, many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and her church family.

Kimberley was born on Dec. 26, 1974 to John and Mary Dykstra, and grew up on the family farm in St Ann’s. She attended Gainsborough Elementary School, Beamsville Secondary School and Niagara College where she received a diploma in Office Administration.

On August 2, 1997, she married the love of her life, Steve Sytsma, and together they have lived in the Beamsville community since 2006.  She was famous in the community for her delicious baked goods, especially her cookies. Kim’s baking brought immense joy to those around her, whether that was family, friends, neighbours, or even vacation bible school. Family members looked forward to her edible Christmas packages and she always made sure their freezers were stuffed with tasty treats.

Kim also loved working and creating with flowers. She spent many years at Cedarway Floral greenhouses picking and sorting gerbera daisies. She also spent the last few years at Hendriks Greenhouses in Beamsville, where she would create beautiful floral arrangements for every occasion. Her bright and colorful personality was reflected in the flowers she loved to arrange.

God has blessed each one of His children with gifts, talents, and abilities to utilize for His glory. Even though baking and flowers kept her busy, Kim and Steve were faithful members of the Calvary Gospel Church in Beamsville. Kim was a devoted Christian as expressed through her trust in Jesus to overcome life’s trials and tests. Her battle with cancer is over and she now rests in her eternal home.
