Obituary of Carolyn Ann Hansen

Carolyn Ann Hansen (nee McNally) 1965-2016 Peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family in the early hours of December 7, 2016 at Hamilton General Hospital. Carolyn is the cherished wife of Jens, proud mother of Kristiaan and Liam, much loved sister of Moe McNally, Patricia Palleschi, Marty McNally, Joyce (Dave) Gould, Mike (Angela) McNally, sister-in-law to Wietske Hitchens, Mark Hansen (Suzanne Padmore) and Sue Shapter. Forever remembered by her parents-in-law Francis and Issy Hansen, and special friends Christina and Craig Hannus and Sheri and Carlos Pereira. “The Auntie” will be loving remembered by her nieces and nephews Michelle (Duff), Mike (Erin), Erin (Dave), Ian (Megan), Dani (Damian), Shannon (Josh), Jenny (Ron), Matt, Katie, Andrew (Jeryka) and Amy Cannon and many great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents William and Margaret McNally, mother-in-law Amy Hansen-Elzerman, and brother-in-law Paul Palleschi. Carolyn loved her community, and served it in many ways. She was the Chairperson of 62 Phantom Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadet’s Squadron Sponsoring Committee. She was actively involved in Community Care of West Niagara, Lincoln Community Policing, and participated in Community Theatre, with the Lincoln Lamplighter Tour. There will be a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 17 from 2-4 p.m. at the Mountain Ridge Community Centre, 105 Mountain Road, Grimsby. The doors will open for a reception and gathering from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Carolyn lived life happily and in vibrant colour. Please wear comfortable and colourful attire that best reflects Carolyn’s cheerful outlook on life. The family would like to extend their thanks and grateful hearts to the many people that participated in caring for our Carolyn. Thank you to the staff of Hamilton General Hospital – ICU East, especially Dr. Sharma, Dr. Wittingham, Dr. Meade, and Nurses Julie, Nathan, Chris, Joanna, Pamela, Robin, Heather, and Kelly. Thank you to the firefighters of Grimsby Fire Department Station #1, the responding paramedics from Niagara Emergency Medical Services, and Niagara Regional Police Constable Denhoed and Constable Dool. Carolyn was never one to be burdened by much - she lived life hard and fast and danced for joy every time she had an excuse to, and even when she didn't she still did. She was so loved, and will be greatly missed.
