Auntie Shirley: icicle cookies, fancy pinwheel sandwiches and popsicles; a contagious laugh; a beautiful smile. Singing and dancing in the living room and kitchen. Colourful aprons and perfect hair. A gal who would listen attentively when you needed to talk, and would give you her opinion kindly and truthfully. What a lady. David, Denise and Doug and your families - I am sending a virtual hug your way. Auntie Shirley often said, "Bless their hearts" and now I say to her, Bless your heart, Auntie Shirley. We were lucky to know and love you. Be at peace.

I remember a sunny summer day and we cousins running wild in the backyard and Aunt Shirley coming out her back door laughing and kidding us about staying out of the raspberry patch! She was beautiful and glowy. I remember marvelling at how she operated the complicated laundry equipment, esp. the ringer! and yet still kept her humour. There was always something wonderful going on in her kitchen. Boy! could she cook and bake and lay a table!
From where I stood she made life seem so effortless and happy. Her natural resting disposition was always joyful.
When I last visited she was very philosophical and recommended keeping life simple and focusing on the good. She said ' didnt we have a good life!'...and I would add she made life greater by being among us.

Many wonderful memories of this wonderful lady. A great neighbour, friend and surrogate mom to us both. She loved family and life. It is comforting to know she is reunited with Don and in the loving arms of Jesus. May God bless you all with peace and comfort at this time. We send our love to you all.
