Although I likely didn't admit this at the time - I so enjoyed Mr. Loewen's high school English classes. He had an impact on my life during those years for which I am sincerely grateful. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Loewen, Lori (we were classmates for many years) and the entire family.

So sorry to hear of Vic's passing! This man holds a special place in my heart, as he welcomed me, mentored me and supervised my teaching position at the "new"(about to be) Public Eden, at the former site in NOTL. Unsure of my welcome and with the wet feet of youth, he, and Rudy, I was relieved to find, were so caring, respectful and full of high expectations but also humour and good-will. Both great people to serve under. I know you will be sorely missed by the many lives you have touched over the years!!! Sending condolences to his friends and family at this time! Wes Frost.

Marion and family, I am sorry for your grief and loss.
Your husband, father, grandfather was one of the people who left a lasting impact on my life. He taught me to love English in high school almost fifty years. He could bring any novel or poem to life and taught us to see far beyond the words on paper, into the mind and soul of the writers. But he taught us so much more than English. He lived what he believed, and without ever ramming anything down our throats created a hunger within us to taste and see for ourselves. A poem he introduced us to was Francis Thompson's Hound of Heaven. I can still hear him reading those lines ... and years after I'd heard them in his class, I could still hear them in my mind...
I fled Him down the nights and down the days
I fled Him down the arches of the years
I fled Him down the labyrinthine ways
Of my own mind, and in the mist of tears
I hid from Him, and under running laughter.
Up vistaed hopes I sped and shot precipitated
Adown titanic glooms of chasm-ed fears
From those strong Feet that followed, followed after.
But with unhurrying chase and unperturb-ed pace,
Deliberate speed, majestic instancy,
They beat — and a Voice beat,
More instant than the feet:
“All things betray thee who betrayest Me.”
....
I am forever grateful for the Hound of Heaven who pursued me. And I am grateful for Mr. Lowen who personified him in his daily walk and talk.

I have long cherished Vic's impact on my life. He took me under his wings when I first arrived at Eden in 1969 as a rooky teacher, helping me as an "English person" to get oriented to such a foreign environment. His steadfastness in Christ and His commitment to building His church was a constant source of encouragement. He set an example of how to serve with diligence -- as classroom teacher and VP, as fruit farmer and home siding installer, as a leader within the body of Christ, as caring father and devoted husband, as wise counsellor. As a friend, he had time when there was little time. I rejoice that he is now seeing Christ as He is. God has received another of His own dear sons.

Marian and family, my heartfelt condolences to you all. I fondly remember my Grade 12 home room class with "Mr. Loewen" as my home room teacher. The hockey boys didn't get away with much in that class. I will miss Vic and his sage wisdom. Praying God's comfort for your hearts.

Dear Mrs. Loewen & Karen -
I was sad to see Mr. Loewen's obituary today as I checked Tallman's web site. He was my teacher at Eden, then Karen and I became friends, and then I learned we were related .... all in that order. I have fond memories of spending time in your home on more than one occasion. And from there our paths would cross from time to time at family events.
May cherished memories bring you moments of comfort. I am not able to join you at the service, but you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
