Obituary of John Derksen

Derksen, John - Our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend has found his rest on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the age of 82 years. Beloved husband of Marlene and dear father of Dan (Liz), Loral (Chris) Derksen-Hiebert and James (Janet). Loving grandfather of Caleb, Emily, Levi, Andreas, Alexei, Stefan and Lena. Brother of Jenny Penner. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Peter, Arthur, Tina and Martha Derksen. John spent his career as an educator, dedicated to his students, and cherished his years at Colonel John Butler, Virgil, Meadowvale and E.I. McCulley Public Schools. We are profoundly grateful for a life well lived and we invite you to join us in celebration of this life. Visitation will be at the Vineland Chapel of the Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King St. on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be at the Fairview M. B. Church 455 Geneva Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment at Niagara Lake Shore Cemetery.
