Stephen, Linda and David,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Irene. It closes another door on the connections to the past. I enjoyed my phone calls with her, at least once a year, typically around Christmas. In my mind’s eye she was always the same and through her I could see my own mother, her dear friend. I will miss Irene as I also miss your father, Art.
Take care and much love,
Jim Spencer

Linda, David, and Stephen,
My sincere condolences to you on the passing of your mother. Although she enjoyed a long life, the loss of a mother is always a sad and traumatic event for the family.
I do remember your mother very well. A lovely lady, she was always quick with greetings to me whenever I met her. She was quite outgoing and lit up a room whenever she entered. Elmira was quite unique in the days in which I grew up. Those who worked at Naugatuck were often those whose spouses and families socialized as well. My brother Bruce and I still recall many of the good times of that time. Your mother and our mother used to talk regularly on the telephone. Other than Canada Post, that was the only method of communication in those days.
My best to you all. I hope that you have many good memories of your mother that will sustain you in the years ahead.
Sincerely,
John
