Obituary of Jerinne Porteous

Porteous, Opal Jerinne (nee Beamer) - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother.  Mom passed away peacefully at Henley House in her 90th year on Saturday, July 8, 2017 following a debilitating battle with Alzheimer disease.  She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Robert (1998).  Cherished mother of Heather Beck (Al Harrison) and Robin Hildebrand (Bob).  Dearly loved grandmother of Shannon Beck and Matthew Hildebrand (Lauren Schryvers).  Lovingly remembered by her sister Myrna Macey (Jim pre-deceased 2016) and also by her sister Ina Crowe (Ken) and sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. 

Jerinne was a dedicated employee of Bell Canada for 35 years and 4 months.  As well, she was a member of the Mabel Hubbard Club and The Telephone Pioneers of America.  Jerrine was a member of the Community Builders Branch of the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario since 1949.  She served on many committees and held several offices at the Branch, District, Area and Provincial levels and was the proud recipient of a Life Membership several years ago.

Friends will be received at the Tallman Funeral Home - Vineland Chapel, 3277 King St., Vineland on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.  A service to celebrate Jerinne's life will be held in the chapel on Tuesday July 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.  Cremation has taken place.  A private family interment will be held at a later date.  Family and friends are invited to the Fireside Room for fellowship and refreshments following the service.  Our family would like to thank the staff at Henley House (Lakeside) for their care and compassion toward our mother during her stay there.  It was greatly appreciated.  In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society, The Canadian Cancer Society or to The Erland Lee (Museum) Home Memorial Fund, 552 Ridge Rd., Stoney Creek, ON, L8J 2Y6.
