Obituary of Kathryn "Katey" McNiven

McNiven, Kathryn – With sadness, yet gratitude for the loving, generous person she was, we announce the peaceful passing of Kathryn (Jeffries) McNiven at Albright Manor, Beamsville on Saturday October 14, 2017. Kay (Katey) was born in Toronto on October 17, 1923 to Harold and Gladys (White) Jeffries. She lived a long and fulfilled life.
Loving Mom of Jill (John) Slaughter, Mike (Cathy) McNiven and Steve (Marie) McNiven; cherished Granny of Andy Slaughter, Kerri Slaughter, Mark (Cassie) McNiven, Katie Appleyard, Lauren McNiven, Kelly (Jay) Spence and adoring Great Granny to Lukas, Mackenzie, Devyn, Ainslee, Evan, and Hannah.
Katey was predeceased by her siblings Eileen Liddle and Terry Jeffries and the father of her children, Bill McNiven. She leaves her younger sister Alison Hall and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in November, 2016 by her very close niece, Barb Hall.
Katey was unabashedly proud of her children and their families and her kindness and love was also extended to many friends, such as the Foxfire girls and the Group of 7.
In honour of her life, a celebration will be held at Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King St., Vineland on Friday October 20 at 1pm with visitation 1 hour prior. A time of fellowship will follow at the Tallman Fireside Room.
Katey’s family thanks Dr. Datema,  the nurses, P.S.W.’s and the support staff at Albright Manor’s 2nd floor West for their kindness and love shown to our Mom. We also extend a special thanks to her niece, Susan Jeffries for her care prior to Albright.
A private family interment will take place at a later date.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory would be welcomed by Albright Manor, W.L.M.H. Auxillary, The World Wildlife Fund, or a charity of choice.
