Henry was my grade 6 teacher in Robertson school. It is July 29, 2023. I have lived in B.C. for the past 32 years. I have been out of the loop with respect to people and events in Ontario. I have just now found Henry's obituary page. As a boy, I knew that he was a Christian believer. So was I. I liked him. But he had a responsibility that would hurt me. I have the indelible memory of my boyhood experience of Henry, this enormous man, strapping each of my hands with three strokes of a leather strap in grade 6, for a deserved punishment of hitting a girl with a stone that I threw. So many years of life passed for us both. He had such an impressive educational career. I pastored four churches and led a denomination as its president. Then we met again, at the Tabor Home where he and his wife lived, as did my parents. We were both glad to catch up on each other's lives that day. I am 80 years old now, and some time in the near future, I too will realize the eternal truths of God that Henry knows first hand. I am grateful for God's people in my life through all the decades.

Dear Aggie and family It is with saddness that we heard of Henry's passing. At the same time we reflected on the tremendous blessing that we know he was to hundreds, perhaps thousands of people in his church and community. I had the pleasure of getting to know Henry at the Ontario MB conference level. The contributions he made were done in a spirit of joy and excellence. I was deeply appreciative of Henry's assistance. It can truly be said of Henry, "you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life" (Philippians 2:15-16)

Dear Aggie and family, I am praying for and asking God to hold you in His grip as you are going through this difficult time. Henry was a special man and I have many fond memories of he and I sitting in a church service getting emotional over the music/message while it seemed everyone else remained dry eyed. We used to joke that it was because we were the only soft hearted people in the congregation. I would often slip him a kleenex on my way down the aisle to take a seat with my folks up front. Now he's up in heaven singing with the angels around the throne and I'm sure there are streams of happy tears flowing down his face. Just as I'm sure there will be many tears on your faces at this time. Please remember that alot of people have been and still are praying for you and I am one of them. Love Lucy

To Mr. Petkau's family, sincere condolences from mine. I remember my brother Jim, now deceased, had the utmost respect for him as a teacher at Connaught. Although I never was in his class, I recall that he was a driving force in creating the skating rink each year - we loved that! He was a gentleman of the old school.

Please accept my sincerest condolences on the passing of Henry Petkau, or as many of us knew him, "Hank". I always appreciated Hank Petkau very much... knowing him mostly through my friendships with David and Julie. In my eyes, he was ever the gentleman and so modest even with academic life at Brock. I also knew him as a baseball coach for a few years where he showed tolerance to my mediocre playing ability. One memory I would share is that I met with Hank privately once when I was about to make a significant decision in my life - he was eactly what I needed at that moment and I appreciated him even more after that. I'm very grateful to have known Hank Petkau. Blessings and God's speed to the family. Don Penner
