To my Dear Cousins Ruth, Lorna, Hugh, Dan, their families and friends
My husband Fiorenzo, son Raffaele and I offer our deepest condolences at this time of great loss. Aunt Myrtle was a rare and admirable woman. I have innumerable memories of family gatherings together, and especially of Myrtle's wonderful cooking!!! My last vivid recollection of her was from our Dad Hank's memorial day just a few years ago. Myrtle, already in her 90's was beautifully dressed as always, not a hair out of place and absolutely as "sharp as a tack", truly magnificent!! I hope we may all have inherited some of that amazing spirit!
She will live on through her endless accomplishments and our strong memories. Our hearts and thoughts are with you. Marjie

On behalf of the Matejcic family, may I offer sincere condolences on the passing of Mrs. Stevenson… our friend and neighbour for many years. We shall miss her quick wit and good humour, her sharp observant eye and her judicious use of good old fashioned common sense.
Allow me to share a memory of a summer afternoon when, as a very young boy new to King Street, my mother entrusted me with a very important chore. I was to deliver a homemade nut loaf to one of new neighbors. It was a gesture of goodwill, from one mother to another - presumably for looking after my welfare. Kids – even young kids - were more or less allowed to play on sidewalks and in backyards in complete safety, due to an un-spoken good-neighbor code. Needless to say, I somehow got distracted along the way and was alarmed to find myself overdue to return home, with most of the street yet to travel to my appointed delivery. Thinking fast, and not wanting to be late for supper, I quickly handed the nut loaf over to my new friend Dan and said, “Here, this is for your Mother”, and promptly ran home. I suppose showing appreciation to one neighbour was as good as thanking any neighbor on the street, even if it was the wrong neighbor on that particular day. Of course that was the thinking of a small lad many years ago.
The phone rang later that evening. Myrt was calling to thank Mother for the delicious nut loaf. I can’t imagine Mom's horror at receiving the news from this stranger, but I do remember her disappointment in me. Life has a way of leveling things out, and as time passed, the Stevenson family became a greatly important part of our everyday lives. And it all started with some home baking and a timely phone call from a no-nonsense woman with a heart full of good humour. Thanks Myrt.

We are so saddened by Myrtles passing. Peace be with all of you as you mourn. She was such a neat lady with that stare you down look with a twinkle in her eye!
Her Halloween fudge will always be wonderful memories for my kids. Every time I bake an apple pie I’ll continue to wish that mine could taste like hers’!

To the Stevenson Family.... our families have consistently crossed paths for over fifty years, through marriage, business and socially, and it has been one of life’s rich blessings. Your mother was extreamly gifted in so many areas of life. One of those gifts was as a seamstress......she made my late sisters beautiful wedding dress, and refused to accept any payment. Amazing! Im sure there are a myriad of such stories. She was also a feminist before the word was coined, an astute and successful businesswoman. She will be sorely missed by family, friends, aquaintences and the community. God bless you all.

Ruth, Lorna, Hugh , Dan and families:
Cousin Randy just informed me of the passing of our beloved Aunt Myrtle. Brother, Rob, and I are both out of the country right now and not back until Friday late evening so we will sadly miss the gathering on Friday in her honour.
We all have wonderful memories of our times together with Aunt Myrtle and especially the many times in Beamsville when Grandma was still alive. I often tell the stories of our quest for Aunt Myrtle's big sugar cookies which we clamored for as young children on every visit. We were always amazed at how active, cheerful and alert she remained for so long...she was always about 20 years younger in spirit than in age.
This is a sad milestone for us all with the loss of the final member of a generation.
Our condolences to everyone for the loss, with combined thoughts of joy for a most beautiful life lived.
