We are deeply saddened by Mr. Brunet passing. We have fond memories of such a wonderful man who lived up the street from us for the past 27 years. Especially his horseshoe nights next door at his longtime friend Clem Beninger. We were out of the country and are so sorry that we were not back in time for his funeral. Mr. Brunet and his family are in our thoughts and prayers
Rest in peace Mr Brunet, you were a great man.

Dear Shirley, Tony, Joanne, Alex, Gerald -- and families: With great sadness I only learned of Ernie's passing today. Because of that, I was unable to visit with you at the funeral home as I would have wanted, and I regret that. Be that as it may, I will certainly cherish the fond memories I retain of how you welcomed me into your midst during my earliest days in Niagara after ordination, serving as a deacon in Grimsby. Thanks to all of you in the Brunet family, from Shirley and Ernie on through, I felt completely at home in your company then. While the years haven't kept us in closer contact, still on occasion I would "run into" you and enjoy a visit (most recently when Gerald was among those at the Blanchard wedding). I offer you all my heartfelt prayers and condolences; know that I will be keeping Ernie in my
prayers and along with him, all of you. I am sorry to receive this news. Love, (Fr.) Peter T.

Ernest sounds like and no doubt was a grand person, the salt of the earth and from that generation we all know to have been steadfast and courageous - a person you all must have been proud to call husband, father, grandfather and brother... He is no doubt in a fine place! One where all fathers tend to go! Our heart goes out to the family and our prayers, we hope, follow Ernest to his place in the sun!
Our deepest condolences

Dear Shirley and Brunet family:
It was with deep sadness that Kathy and I learned of Ernie’s passing.
Ernie was such a caring and selfless man, always interested in how other people were doing. And he was fun to be around.
He treated us like family. We remember the family get togethers, and his keen interest on how we were making out in Ottawa, how the kids were doing, and, of course, how the ball team was shaping up.
He was such a fastball fan, his presence at Tony’s games always guaranteed. Sometimes that meant he had to cheer against my team, as I set Tony down on another slow drop. But later on we were all on the same side, and quite a force to be reckoned with. We celebrated the victories together.
Unfortunately, Kathy and I currently vacationing in Mexico, and thus will be unable to attend the services. We very much regret that. However, we hope to catch up with you soon.
In the mean time, our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Sincerely,
Kathy and Wayne (and Kara and Alanna) Foster

Dear friend Shirley - and Tony, Joanne, Alex and Gerald - I am so very sorry to hear that Ernie died. At Maplecrest they did not tell me that he had died when I came to visit him and Shirley this afternoon. He was a good man whose Catholic faith was obviously important to him. May it comfort you in your great loss to know you will see him again in heaven.
