Obituary of Jacob Lepp

LEPP, Jacob Henry (Jack)- Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Vineland, with family members at his side. He was well cared for, in recent years, as a resident of the Vineland United Mennonite Home. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Hedy (nee Peters). Jack loved his children - David (Anita) - Oshawa, Chris (Dodie) - Beamsville, Randy (Frieda) - Leamington, Virginia (Ismael) -Toronto, and Richard - Oshawa. Jack was also a guiding, caring Opa to thirteen grandchildren Brad (Jana) - Toronto, Amanda (Ramsey) St. Catharines, James (Christina) - Ottawa, Shelley (Aaron) - Toronto, Eric (Rebecca) - Waterloo, Kiera (Adam) Thorold, Heidi - Leamington, Jacqueline - Peterborough, Connor - Toronto, Morgan - Oshawa, Fadyl - Toronto, Sarita Toronto, and Anis - Toronto. And with a bonus of great joy, Jack was a Great Grandfather to five Pia, Max, Ryan (Aaron and Shelley), Victoria (Jamie and Christina), and Sebastian (Brad and Jana). Jack's parents were Heinrich (d. 1966) and Agatha (nee Thiessen) (d. 1979). Jack's immediate family: David Krueger and Tina (Lepp) Krueger Peter Lepp and Helen (Dyck) Lepp George and Mary (Driediger) Lepp Heinrich (d. 1926) Jack and Hedy (Peters) Lepp Abram (d. 1926) Heinrich and Erica (Penner) * Jack is survived by two sisters-in-law - Erica and Helen Jack was born November 4, 1924 in Georgstahl, USSR. He emigrated, with his family to southern Manitoba. Jack's twin brother (Abram) died in Latvia at their port of exit. Jack enjoyed a childhood farming in Rivers, MB. He thoroughly enjoyed being a quiet, curious, adventurous boy and was always a good student. He had some interruption in his education, due to WW II, but graduated from Rosthern Junior College in Saskatchewan and the University of Manitoba. He graduated as a Mechanical Engineer in 1950. Jack chose a bride in Winnipeg, marrying Hedy Peters on October 1, 1949. Jack and Hedy began married life on their farm at Rivers, MB. Three sons were born there and then the family moved to Hamilton, ON, where Jack accepted an engineering position at International Harvester. He enjoyed a career there, combining his love of engineering and agriculture. Two more children were born in Grimsby, ON - where they had settled into a wonderful family home for five children. Jack retired from I H in 1982. In retirement, several interests received his attention. Jack and Hedy did things like "Vacation With A Purpose" - Silver Lake Camp maintenance - Bethesda bus driving and other such things. Jack was a long time church member at Vineland United Mennonite Church and held various positions of responsibility, including Treasurer for six years. He also served on national boards, such as Mennonite Foundation. Retirement also allowed them time to travel - cruises, visiting children in their overseas missions settings, and more than twenty winters, relaxing in Florida locations. Jack also enjoyed golf, barber shop chorus, crokinole and encouraging the Toronto Blue Jays. His first love was family. In a quiet way, he led, advised, encouraged and was a role model to all. He will be missed for his sage advice, loyalty to loved ones and his gentle humour. Jack loved family, friends, church and global missions. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to Mennonite Central Committee or the Vineland United Mennonite Home. Or you may choose something on your own.
