Obituary of Martina De Man

De Man, Martina - It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Martina (Tina) De Man (Braat), after a brief battle with cancer. Surrounded and embraced by the love of her family, Tina ended her battle November 23, 2013 in her 82nd year in the comfort of her home at The Orchards Retirement Residence in Vineland, ON. Tina was born January 31, 1932 in Nootdoorp, The Netherlands and was second youngest of 9 children. Together with her husband Albert, and four of her five children, the family emigrated to Canada in 1959. The youngest son, completed the family in 1970. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband Albert on June 7, 2002 and is survived by her five children, Guustaf (Jane) de Man, Christina (Carl) Nickel, Joline De Man (friend Richard Dawdy) ), Robert (Jane) de Man and Joe (Cindy) De Man and grandchildren Jillian, Spencer and Diana, Michael and Jenny, Missy and Scott, Julia and Dane, Shawn, Marina and great grandchildren, Ella, Shelby and Carson, Allie, Brandon and Tyler. Also left to mourn her passing are her many relatives in the United States, Holland and Australia. Visitation will be held at The Orchards Retirement Residence 3421 Frederick Ave, Vineland on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A memorial service will follow for those who wish to stay. Please join us in celebrating our mother's life. A luncheon will be served following the service. Private interment will take place at a later date in Gravenhurst, ON where mom will be reunited with her husband Albert. Arrangements have been entrusted to Tallman Funeral Homes, Vineland. Donations to Hospice Niagara would be appreciated. We wish to thank The Orchards Residence, Dr. Riccardi as well as CCAC, and Saint Elizabeth for their compassionate care of our mother. We also wish to thank mom's tablemates (the Golden Girls) Dorothy, Evelyn and Greta. who clearly loved our mom as we did. "Ik ga slapen..."
