Obituary of Martha Comeau
Comeau, "Penny", Martha Theresa (nee Richardson) -
Lovingly surrounded by family, Penny, in her 86th year, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at Albright Manor in Beamsville, Ontario. Penny was very generous with her time, talents and gifts. She was the ultimate hostess and willing to travel when family needed her support. She was a devoted mother, a doting grandmother and a formidable card opponent, especially when playing rummy and auction 45, with family and friends. Her infectious sense of humour, and her love of novels and films, will also be sorely missed.
Penny was born August 11, 1928 to George and Georgina Richardson (née De Silva) in Bathurst New Brunswick, and moved to Toronto in 1950. She is pre-deceased by her husband John A. Comeau (1975); sisters Ethel, Irene, June and Ricci, and brothers Edmund, Duncan, Harry and Howard. She is survived by sons Howard (Fim), Dana (Lisa) and Dylan and grandchildren Rebecca (Graeme), Kyle (Sarah), Laura, Kelsey and Kevin as well as her sister Maurita Deluca; sister-in-law Edna Richardson, brother-in-law Paul Beckstead and many nieces and nephews.
The family is especially thankful to the kind and attentive staff at Albright Manor who cared for Penny . Sincere appreciation is also extended to the many residents who befriended Penny, especially Deborah Barratt, who took Penny under her wing when she first moved in.
A family service and interment has taken place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario. If so desired, memorial donations in Penny's memory may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were made through tallmanfuneralhomes.ca
