Bob has has left a legacy of contributions to agriculture that did not end with his retirement. He continued as a Professional Agrologist throughout his retirement, as a contributor and mentor. We will all miss his honesty, and his humour.

Doreen, Wendy, Robert and David, So sorry to hear of your father's passing. When I first came to Vineland as a student, Bob was a fixture and constantly bringing issues to Ollie Bradt. When I joined OMAFRA in Harrow as the fruit specialist for Kent and Essex, Bob would often drop in when on visits to Cottam. Bob was always supportive of a 'newbie' in extension, especially a girl, rare at the time. His was always very generous with his time and knowledge and history of the area. We will surely miss him and his wonderful humour.Helen

Sorry to hear about Bob's death, he was a great mentor for me when I started as an extension horticulturalist. I will remember his love for pruning (and bringing a ready-to-assemble tree to meetings), developing the Code-a-phone daily message system, and calling the best week for blossom tours. His knowledge of tender fruit and grapes was freely shared with us rookies. He always loved to talk about Essex County with me, as well as his time at Guelph He was friends with my dad and aunt Vera (and cottaged near her at Normandale in later year). Sharing your loss today. Leslie

We were very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. It was due to Bob's devotion to fruit growers and his ability to help everyone with any problem that came up in the health of fruit crops that made it easier and maybe even possible for me to be a success in this industry. He was always there for each and every grower and never turned his back on any problem. Thanks Bob for everything you did for me. Jim and Mary Warner

Dear Doreen & Family Many memories of Bob. I remember the devoted Extension Specialist in the 1960's who would drop what he was doing and accompany a farmer to his orchard to diagnose/solve a problem anytime - even when he had his coat on ready to go home after a long day! I remember the 3000 spray letters we sent out every 10 days or so, and his "angst" in not being able to adequately describe the growth or emergence of peach buds so that farmers could spray in a timely fashion, and his great delight when he would bring me a developing peach twig and I would draw it on a Gestetner for the newsletter! How times have changed, but memories are precious, and I will always remember Bob as a friend, boss, co-worker and wonderful human being. Sincerely Helen Zimmerman

Our heartfelt condolences to the family. Bob was a treat. I can't remember a time that our conversation didn't begin with, "did you hear the one about the guy..." Bob was always quick to tell a joke, had a ready smile and could speak intelligently and thoughtfully on almost any topic. He will be missed.

As a new fruit grower in 1967, Bob Wilcox was a very important person in my life? Without his advice and support I could not have been a successful grower. People like Bob and Ollie Bradt were a great source of advice.
