Obituary of Betty Ellis
Ellis, Betty Doreen (Morton). Betty passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Albright Centre in Beamsville, Ontario in her 95 year (August 7 1921 to October 17 2015). She will be missed by her son Christopher and his wife Kathleen (London Ontario) and her many friends and family at the Jordan Church of Christ where she was an active member most of her adult life. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Gerald Ray Ellis (Jordan, Ontario), her twin brother Jack (Winnipeg) and her older brothers Charles Albert (Beamsville) and Howard High (Dallas, Texas). Betty was born in Beamsville, the daughter of Jessie High and Charles C. Morton. While Gerry operated a fruit farm near Rockway, Betty worked at the Land Registry Office in St. Catharines, progressing from taking dictation to becoming the Deputy Registrar. Upon retirement Betty and Gerry moved to Jordan where she continued to live after Gerry’s death (1989), moving in 2010 to Albright Centre in Beamsville. She and Gerry enjoyed traveling and the outdoors in all seasons. Betty learned to downhill ski in her mid 60’s and became an inspiration to her friends and family as she continued to ski until the age of 85. Betty was an avid gardener and antique collector with boundless energy. Her family is most grateful to the members of her church and the community who made it possible for her to live in her home until her 90th year.
