Obituary of Gerald Alexander Prentice

Prentice, Gerald Alexander – late of the Township of Wainfleet died peacefully in his 72nd year at Port Colborne on Thursday, the 19th day of April, 2018 with loved ones at his side.  Gerry, who attended Saint Mary’s University at Halifax, was a pioneer and leader in the farming community in the marketing of soybeans and corn having served as a director of various farm organizations including the Ontario Soybean Growers’ Marketing Board, the Ontario Corn Producers’ Association and the Grain Farmers of Ontario and also served as President of the Welland River Floodplain Association.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann, his sons, Gerald Allister (Lea, dec’d) of Guelph and Jason Cameron (Crystal) of Wainfleet and granddaughter, Abigail.  In addition, Gerry is survived by his companion, Linda Marie Skotniski, her sons, Christopher (Chelsea) and Michael (Susan) and grandchildren, Sierra and Sydney Skotniski.  Gerry is also survived by his sister, Evelyn Heath (Clifford, dec’d) of Stratford and sister-in-law, Marilyn Prentice (James, dec’d) of St. Catharines.  Gerry is further survived by his nieces and nephews, Linda Stephenson, Jamie Prentice, James Little, Robert Little, Carolyn Heath and James Heath.  Gerry is predeceased by his parents, Albert A. and Annie M. Prentice (nee Weir) of Louth Township, his daughter-in-law, Lea, his sisters and brothers, Janet, Howard, Jessie Little (Alan, dec’d), Weir and James (Marilyn).

Arrangements have been entrusted to Tallman Funeral Homes at 3277 King Street, Vineland, Ontario, L0R 2C0 with provision for cremation and no visitation.  Inurnment to follow at a subsequent date at Rockway Cemetery, Regional Road #69 in the Town of Lincoln.  If desired, donations made to Diabetes Canada at 1-800-226-8464 ext.7753 in memory of Gerry would be appreciated by the family.
