For as far back as I can remember, Auntie Ida was always smiling and very loving! As many others, I too have fond memories of the farm and Uncle Ab and the girls.
I remember going for hay rides - it was fun for us kids but work for Uncle Ab...
I remember Uncle Ab giving my Grade 6 class a chicken to disect, then cook and eat at school.
I remember going in the garden and picking peas, cracking the shell and eating them raw...
I remember my Uncle Ab insisting that I come to the barn with him to gather eggs. I was so scared and told him so. He told me NOT to scare the chickens... well as soon as he opened that door - they all came running at him and me... I started to scream and boy did he get upset about his chickens.
I remember my brother Bob sleeping over and he got to have the pee pot under his bed... just in case... well I got up, tip toed to the room he was in and used the pot (too far to go to the bathroom). The next morning Auntie Ida wanted to know who used the pot... I wouldn't say because it meant I'd have to drink water (which I have never liked). I wanted my milk and was not willing to give it up for water. Poor Bob - he got the water...
I loved Auntie Ida's smile and loving ways... I will remember her fondly. And to think she lived to be 101... wow! In that amount of time - I'm sure she touched a lot of lives!
Lovingly thinking of my cousins...
