Obituary of Maria Klassen

KLASSEN, Maria (Kroeker) - Maria died peacefully in her sleep at the United Mennonite Home in Vineland, on Saturday morning Aug. 4^th, 2018, at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2005. Dear mother of Maria Klassen (Alf Redekopp), Else (Gary Froese), Linda (Bill Kirwin), and John (Liz Michaels). Survived by her grandchildren Matthew Froese (Jesslyn) and Beth Vernon (Jay); Kristin Neudorf Gold (Jordy) and Jason Neudorf (Alanna Magder); Daniel and David Kirwin (Laura); and David (Sarissa), Mark, Michael and Matthew Klassen. Proud great grandmother of Jadess, Micah and Milo Froese; Aspen, Coleton and Emerson Vernon;  Arielle, Abigail, Charlotte and Bethany Kirwin; and Eileen Klassen.  She was predeceased by her grandson Adam Klassen in 1992. Maria was born in Neuendorf, Ukraine, on Dec. 17^th, 1921. She married in 1948 in a refugee camp in Germany and came to Canada in 1949. Surviving her are sisters Helen Hamm and Margaret Kroeker (Bernie Noel),  brother Peter (Mary) Kroeker, brother-in-law Andreas Roessner and sister-in-law Tina Eckert. She is predeceased by her sisters Anna Reimer (2014) and Tina Roessner (2017), and her brothers Nick (2012), Isaac (1999), and George (1988). The family will receive friends at the VINELAND CHAPEL of the TALLMAN FUNERAL HOMES, 3277 King St. on Fri. 10^th Aug. from 3:30 till 6:30 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Vineland United Mennonite Church on Saturday Aug. 11^th, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the Vineland Cemetery.
