I first met Jon at Victory School and used to visit his house on Mont St. in Guelph across from the park. I remember taking the Greyhound with Jon to the CNE when we were about 12 years old. Those were different times. We both moved from that area and both ended up at College Ave School. Times were never dull with Jon - had a ton of fun and trouble. Sad to to hear of his passing. Gone to soon. My condolences to your families.

I'm very sad to hear this. I went to high school with John and partied with him back then. He was a nice guy, fun to hang around with and surprised me on how good of an athlete he was!! I remember we spent one New Years eve in a ditch out but your place in Puslinch. Driving one of his dads trucks we hit some ice and slid off the road. :-) Because we were in the truck, we all had on our jean jackets. It must have been -15 and we had to walk a couple of miles to get back to the house. All of this happened before we even had a drink!!! Take care my friend! :-(

Dear Cheryl
As I have sat in sadness for a few days now I am thinking what I wanted to say. Peter (the oldest sibling) loved and admired his younger brother Jon. I remember all the Buffalo and Hamilton football games they would go to with their Dad, Roger and Chris when he was old enough to go. Everything was Uncle Jon when Chris was growing up. Jon as a teenager and young man was full of life, and that has never changed. You always knew when Jon came into a room, he had so much energy and a great sense of humour, people loved to talk to him.
Jon was way too young to leave us, but he is now with his Mom, Dad and especially Grandpa Lloyd. We love you Jon... Peter, Lori & Chris

I have worked with , laughed with ,and learned from John for many, many years . John’s skills went way beyond what he could do in his bobcat and with a load of soil and a trailer full of flowers and trees. His creativity shone with how he described his thoughts on human nature as well as Mother Nature . He had an answer for everything and everyone. And was never too shy to loudly and clearly speak his thoughts and opinions. And I admired him greatly for that . He unwaveringly always spoke his truths. To his family, i pray that you will with time , find the peace and joy that John planted in the magnificent gardens of life that defined his wonderful and vibrant existance Sincerely, Michael Wakil and Family.

The loss we are feeling right now is beyond words. It's so hard to believe that you are no longer with us and that you were taken far too early and far to quickly from all of those that love you dearly. Roger will miss his weekly calls and the time you spent working together and the girls and I will miss seeing you on those on the way home stops to visit or to say hello. You have touched so many people and we are all saddened of the thought that you are no longer with us. Cheryl, your children, grandchildren and everyone have been blessed to have had you in our lives. You were a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all.
You will always be in our thoughts, hearts, and with us in spirit. Always loved and never forgotten,
Roger, Peggy, Cassidy and Justine

Jon, losing you is simply numbing … It’s going to take some time to understand … never mind accept you’re gone … So many words, so many feelings rush in and out … and through … our hearts and minds …
The feelings are so hard to express right now …
But there are words that can be borrowed in the meantime …
“Grief is the price we pay for love” … It hurts to say, but a simple human truth nonetheless …
And there’s always comfort in the childhood solace of Dr. Seuss, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” …
So very glad you happened … and that we had the privilege to know you and to love you … and will always love you … always in our hearts and minds …
Merilee & Tim
