Obituary of Peter Klassen

Klassen, Peter - on Tuesday, February 26th, 2019 at 90 years of age.

Beloved husband of Katharina (Neudorf) Klassen. Loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather of son Arthur (Laurie) granddaughters Sydney, Sheila and Laurie sons Philip, Michael and Steven; son Marvin (Noelle) grandson Daniel (Bethany) with great granddaughter Lila, grandson Derek and granddaughter Cassandra; daughter Eleanore Novak (Lee) granddaughter Sara (Shawn) with great-grandson Lucas, grandsons Andrew and Sean;  daughter Elisabeth Carrniello (Norman) grandsons Tyler and Alexander. Predeceased by two brothers and one sister survived by one brother and five sisters. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Born in Lugowsk, Neu Samara, Russia on February 13th, 1929. His parents and older brother started their journey through Germany settling in Paraguay in 1930. Peter accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized in 1950. He served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher, in the choir and as a volunteer at the leper colony east of Asuncion. Peter's parents moved their growing family to Canada in 1956 settling in Virgil, Ontario. He married Katharina, whom he met earlier in Paraguay in 1962 and began his own family in the Niagara region.  Peter worked as a carpenter and at Port Weller dry docks. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, swimming, playing pool and going out for coffee with his friends. He loved his family and the Lord. 

Visitation is Friday, March 1st 6 - 8 p.m. at Scott Street MB Church, 339 Scott Street, St. Catharines.  Interment on Saturday, March 2nd at 9:30 a.m. at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery. Service to follow at 11 a.m. at Scott Street MB Church.
