I have just learned that John has passed away. We were best friends for some 40 odd years. I moved away and we had lost touch, but we met up in Toronto 25 years back, and had a wonderful reunion. Bless you all for your loss, Love him, Dave Nicol.

John and I hope way back. Right to the steps of The Penny Farthing. He lived just around the corner on Hazelton Ave. We were the cast of Yokville and John was the star
. Lunch bucket John and Benny and Ken. I wipe a tear. It's a time that will never be duplicated

My sincerest condolences to the Lovsin family. I first met Johnnie through musician friends when he performed regularly as "Johnnie Lovsin's one man band" at the Gasworks in Toronto in the 70's. A talented musician, great story teller and a big part of Toronto's history!

I have great memories of playing with Johnnie in the 80s. We played throughout the GTA, and were the house band at both the Silver Dollar and the Matador for many months.
Then we formed Red Hot and Blue with Johnnie, myself, and Pat Little.
That was a killer band. Musicians came to our gigs from far and wide, to watch Johnnie front a power trio playing an entire night of instrumental classics. That’s a tough gig for a guitarist to pull off. Only Johnnie could have done it.
After Johnnie moved south and I moved north our paths seldom crossed, but whenever they did, we’d always have a few good laughs.
I am so sad to hear of his passing. My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to Michele, Morgan, Britain and all his family.
He lived life large, and will leave a large void in the lives of all of us who were privileged to have known him.

To say Johnnie lived his life to the fullest is an understatement. Johnnie had so many attributes. He loved all of them whether others did or not. He lived his life on his own terms and in his own way .After friending him first in 68 I knew he was a true genuine deal. He was beyond definition, and very inspirational. He had a big heart and could be so humble when it suited him. We always knew where you stood with him. We all loved him for just being himself. We all learned a lot from him about survival and keeping our integrity intact. He could bark but never bite. He will never be forgotten by any of us. To have known John was to love him. My deepest sadness on his final end in this world, and my full condolences to his truly amazing family and his huge friendship base of so many crazy old friends. RRR was so unique and was always so far ahead of his time. Not too many can live their lives even close to Johnnie's.

From the moment I met Johnnie in the Village of Yorkville in the late 60's I new he was destined to be a lifelong friend. He always had an upbeat spirit and optimism never afraid 'to tell it like it is'..I had the pleasure of sitting with his Mom at the Ramones show when he opened for them ..He played at my wedding and dedicated a song to my Mom..He supported me when I was needing help 30 plus years ago and literally saved my life ..He met a beautiful woman,Michele and fathered two great Sons, Morgan and Britain..I did the same..At his medallion ceremony he said to me" Hey Kenny if I can do it you can too!"...Love You Brother..Rest in Peace..
