Obituary of Daniel Henry Parent

PARENT, Daniel

October 31, 1948 – September 13, 2019

With extreme sorrow and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Daniel Henry Parent (70), who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday September 13, 2019.  With grace, Dan had a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Dan leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 46 years, Anne, his sons Neil (Jenny), and Brad (Crystal), and his grandsons Finn, Stone and Zane.  Dan will be missed by his brother Ted (Nanette), and sisters Mary-Jean (Hal) and Pauline (Ian).  He will be reunited with his parents Gaspard and Jeanette and his sister Geri-Ann (Brian).  Dan will also be mourned by his many siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Dan had an easy-going manner.  He had a soft spoken, fun-loving, honest and kind personality.  These traits, along with his keen business sense, led Dan to build his own successful company, Multimodal Logistics, alongside his business partner Keith.  He was a successful entrepreneur who treated his staff like family.  He was proud that his sons followed in his footsteps starting their own logistics company. Dan, a true family man, placed family and friends above all else.  He was always there in times of need, as well as joking around and socializing into the late hours. 

When not working, Dan coached hockey in Beamsville and later became a pickle ball player and avid golfer.  He also picked up cooking as a hobby which he grew to love and made some incredible dishes. He loved the Montreal Canadians, the Leafs, and the Blue Jays and also loved to watch golf and tennis.  Dan loved to explore the world with his favourite travel partner, Anne and often with other friends or family. No day was complete without music for Dan. He loved listening to music, particularly in his back yard while he gazed at his beautiful pond.

Cremation has taken place.  Guests will be received at 11:00am on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at St. Helen’s Church, (4106 Mountain Street, Beamsville, Ont. L0R 1B7), and mass will start at 12:00pm.  A Celebration of Life will follow at Heritage Village Recreation Club, (3425 Frederick Ave., Vineland, Ont. L0R 2C0) from 2:00pm-5:00pm.  Parking is limited, however there is street parking, plaza as well as a nearby library and school parking lot.

The family is grateful for the exceptional care provided by the entire staff at West Niagara Palliative Care Team, particularly nurse Paul who was polite and caring while providing comfort to Dan and the family. Additionally, we would like to thank the Beamsville Medical Centre for their support.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial contributions can be made to West Niagara Palliative Care or the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation.
