Helen, I’m sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. He lived a full life. I’m thankful to him for employing me during my later school years and for a while after till I embarked on a different career. I learned some fundamentals of business and economics in general from him that have served me well. I was there during the time you were married and also when Richard was born. You were a wonderful support to Dave in so many ways, and I appreciated you for it.

Sending love to Aunt Helen and Sharon and Richard and your families. Uncle Dave certainly added spice to my life over the years. Loved his classic story about the emergency landing in Manitoba years ago. My most recent memory was singing for Uncle Dave and Aunt Helen with my husband and children a couple of years ago. I cherished his reaction - he looked at Aunt Helen and said "They're pretty good." Thank you Uncle Dave for being a happy part of my life.

We will miss Dave. We would so want to be with you, Helen and your children and extended family these days. So hard to be so far away. We are both thankful we could be with you as you honoured Dave at his 90th birthday and the book signing for the lovely book written about him. It is a book worth reading. Shows clearly God's leading in his life. So, God can lead in everyone's life.

I was so privileged to be at Uncle Dave's 90th birthday party last year. I have enjoyed through the years his humor and being able simply to be himself. Also the love between him and Aunt Helen was so sweet. All these years together. Love to Aunt Helen and all the family. Our condolences.

Around 1955, Wall's Furniture had a small book section in the back of their store. As a book worm, in our Mennonite community, there were never enough books. I saved my pennies and nickels in a small change purse and finally had enough to purchase a copy or Grimm's Fairy Tales. When counting out my change, Wall's store realized I did not have enough, and forgave the rest of the price. Last Wednesday, I told Mr. Wall my story and he nodded and kissed my hand. A gentleman.
