Norman and Stuart and the rest of your family-I was shocked to hear your Mom was living at the Vineland Mennonite home-I just live down the road from there and would have loved to visit with her.I have fond and wonderful memories of her being part of the"gang" and I can almost hear her contagious laugh. She visited in my home a few years ago and I hold dear that memory-she seemed like part of our family too.I would have loved to have seen her again but am thankful she lived a long and good life.

Dear Stuart, Norman & Mark and families:
Just read of your mom's passing today, January 7th. I did not know she was still alive. I would have visited her had I known. I think she is the last of the 'Gang'. My Dad, Morley Davis, passed away Oct. 9, 2016, two days shy of his 96th birthday.
The only siblings left in his family are Aunt Stella in Barrie who will be 89 this March and Uncle Earl, who will be 87 this coming April & his wife Dorothy who live with their daughter in Ottawa.
I remember your mother's sense of humour and seem to recall that she was a very down to earth, practical woman. It was years ago, I know, but growing up, she seemed like one of the family - the 'Gang' was that close.
I send my condolences to you all and I am happy that you had her to enjoy for a long, long time. Sincerely,..........Brenda
P.S. Dianne also would have attended funeral but she didn't know.

Dear Johnson & Wenner families:
I had lost track of Doris over the last few years. My memories go back to 1951 as an immigrant to Canada, and my parents struggling to provide for our (then) family of 8. We moved into a "roughed in" small barn/house on 20 Road in October '51 and Dad and my brothers struggled to shingle the roof before snowfall. It fell anyway, and the first morning our mattresses/blankets (on the floor) were covered with a sifting of snow. Doris and family lived just down the road and 'round the corner, and she came over to welcome us with a peach (I think) pie! She was a welcome hand of friendship for my Mom, who was struggling with the "newness" of our adopted country. Doris also brought my mom a true Irish Shamrock plant, and my mom cherished it, propagated it and gave a new plant to each of we children as we left home. I have two of what I have always considered "Doris Johnson's shamrock plants" in my kitchen, and over the years I have propagated them and given them to friends. As they bloom summer and winter, their bright pink flowers always bring Doris to mind. She was a wonderful lady with a heart of gold.

I have many fond memories of the Christmas Day celebrations at Aunt Doris's home. One in particular is when she played Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass on the turn table which was very "with it" at the time.
In the days ahead, may you find some small comfort in your many happy memories.

Dear Cousins, we were so sorry to hear of Aunt Doris's passing on Christmas day. She was an amazing lady. I have many fond memories of us city kids coming to visit on the Johnson farm. Your Mom was the last member of my parents' generation to pass. May she rest in peace, may they all rest in peace. Hope to see you Monday morning. Sincerest condolences to all of you and your families. Pat & Al Berg.
