I first met Ted when I started my metallurgical career at Stelco Canada Works in 1978. While our paths continued to cross at Stelco over the years and while there are many work experiences I could recall, I'll always come back to that image of Ted walking out to the pitchers mound as our relief pitcher (wearing that bumble bee coloured jersey Dick Bowering had our Stelco Canada Works East Mill team wear). To a true gentleman who helped me develop those early formative years at Stelco, god bless and thank you.

We extend our deepest sincere condolences to Carol and the Austin Family. I had the great pleasure of working with Ted on a few challenging projects, in the process we became more than colleagues. I will always retain fond memories of the many business trips we took and our numerous discussions . Our prayers will be with you during this time of sorrow. God Bless Ted

I met Ted and his wife Carol 2 years ago when I moved next door. Ted was a true neighbour, always offering to help even though he was struggling with his own health. His kindness included such things as lending me various pieces of his farm equipment, cutting down a tree and plowing an area for me to plant a garden. I also admired the fact that Ted was not afraid to ask for help as well. This allowed my family and I the opportunity to reciprocate some the many good dead’s he bestowed. I will miss having him as a neighbour. May he RIP.
