It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Roy Grindrod on Thursday, March 5, 2020 in his 82nd year.
Beloved husband to Anne of 54 years. He will be deeply missed by his sister Irene of England. Loving and proud father to Andrew (Michelle), Christopher, and Catherine (Trevor) Bischop. He will live on in the fond memories of his four grandchildren, Natalie, Jonathan, Tyler and Jordyn. He will also be remembered by long-time friend of Anne and Roy, Joan Howard of England. He will be missed by his friends and neighbors at Victoria Shores in Vineland.
Roy was born in Oldham, England in 1938. Roy and Anne emigrated from England in 1965, two weeks after they were married. They settled in Sarnia, Ontario, where Roy held the position of Chief Biochemist at Sarnia General Hospital. They moved to London in 1968, where Roy was hired to set up the biochemistry lab at the new University Hospital. In 1973, Roy started working at MDS laboratories where he eventually became a director.
Roy and Anne enjoyed many years of retirement, 18 of those years in Vineland. He was an avid gardener, and a talented home “chef”. He enjoyed taking finance courses in Toronto as a hobby. Roy was a passionate Manchester United fan, and often seen sporting Manchester United clothing.
