Sara, Judy, Lorie, Steve and families,
How very sad to hear this news. Our condolences as you process the loss, and share significant memories together. John held an important place in my formative years at Vineland MB. Youth leader, permanent fixture in the choir's tenor section, faithful friend and singing partner with my parents. I also remember the importance of a lunchtime nap for John at St. Catharines Building Supplies! John brought energy to the people around him with his infectious humour and bright smile. His love and concern for others was always evident. For these and many other qualities he will be greatly missed. May you experience God's peace and comfort.

Dear Sara & Family,
We were so sorry to hear the sad news of John's passing.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the sudden loss of your beloved
husband, a good father to his daughters, son and their families. We know 'bopie' will
be missed by his grandchildren.
Wish there would have been more time to be able to get together, but due to this
pandemic, the opportunity has not been possible.
John was a true gentleman; we are better for having met him.
We send our deepest sympathies to you Sara, and your family.
God Bless you all.

Dear Sarah & family,
My memories of John include meeting at our Klassen gatherings every time we came to Ontario.
These were always happy times of cousins sharing the latest or whatever else is happening in the clan.
The story of John on this memorial page is very touching, and I wish we had had more time to get
acquainted personally. My "Geschwister" who live in the Niagara or Toronto area have shared wonderful
memories they have of John, and I look forward to meeting John in heaven when the Lord calls me home.
"When we all get to heaven
What a day of rejoicing that will be!" Perhaps John has already met my Peter, too!
Praying for you,
Mary Derksen

Next door to Lorie and Ron Thiessen I have missed a greeting with John and his wife Sara at the farm next door recently. That exchange was periodic in their retirement and often just a wave when they passed by for a drop in.
I know the families of their daughters and son will miss him greatly and his wife Sara will take solace in their support. I'm sure many friends will help with that adjustment too as they remember all those things he added to their lives.
Our condolences to everyone. May you adjust to the loss of John's physical presence with all those valuable memories that will continue to surface with time.
I'm sure from your limited gatherings at this time that is already evident.

John was a light wherever he went and his smile and laugh lit up a room. I really enjoyed my years of working with John at Tabor Manor, he always made the shift a joy and was deeply loved and appreciated by both staff and residents. How many times did I hear "John is that you?" We also enjoyed worshiping with John and Sara at Vineland MB Church where he was always encouraging, joyful and wise. He will be missed, but we are all better for having known him. Our condolences to the family! Andrew and Rachel Thiessen.

It is bittersweet as we know John loved his Lord and is with him now yet our grief is very real. Our deepest condolences to all of you. I was so blessed to have worked with John at building supplies and sang beside him in the choir, he was a wonderful man and a great friend. One of my fondest memories of John is he and Peter Martens singing together, two beautiful voices singing together again.

Dear Klassen family, our condolences on the passing of John. I have many wonderful memories from childhood playing at your house, watching and listening to John and my dad along with many other saints singing in the choir at church etc. When I moved away and came home to Vineland church to visit he was always ready with a very warm and sincere welcome and a genuine interest in what I was doing. He was indeed a very good man. May God's peace and comfort truly be felt by you in the coming days.

Sarah, I grieve with you. Just this morning I was so lonesome for my Peter, and it is over 5 years since he went to heaven. I can feel with you in the loss. We grieve, but with the hope of seeing our loved ones again. May that HOPE in the Lord keep you going one day at a time.
Although I didn't get to know John well, the tribute I just read is so beautiful, and almost makes me feel as if I do know him. Yesterday when my sister Hilda called to share the news, she talked about what a loving cousin he was. Walter also called to share the sad news, and he talked about what a wonderful Christian John was. God bless you with all the memories that keep popping up. Some make us cry, some make us laugh.
Why don't you write down some of your memories? Just as it comes to you. When a pastor's wife in Japan wrote and asked me to write about my last experiences of Peter, I was quite put out. But after a month I started to write and couldn't stop. Writing became my healing. "and now may the God of all HOPE fill you..."
Romans 15:13 "...HOPE..."
