I first met Margaret in the Grimsby Seniors Choir. Margaret sang soprano and I was an alto. I was drawn to her not only for her beautiful singing voice, but for her lovely smile and engaging personality. We quickly became friends.
I had only been in the choir two or three years, when I found myself in charge of putting together a choir talent show. It took a lot of convincing to get Margaret to sing: she felt her voice was not "good enough" any more. She finally agreed to perform and sang beautifully. Her voice was angelic and brought a tear to my eye.
I was sad when Margaret decided to leave the choir. But we still kept in touch and regularly met at Tim Hortons for coffee.
We had many conversations and I shared with her that she reminded me of my Mom (who had passed in 1989). Both Margaret and my Mom were both petite and both loved the colour pink. They both had a genuine love for Jesus. Once, I gave her a gift of a ceramic angel and told her she was the "angel of my life". We shared many stories and shed many tears together. I treasure those times so much!
When Margaret could no longer drive, I visited her in Vineland, though sadly not as much as I would have liked due to challenges in my life. We still talked on the phone and I will always cherish her memory. Now God has a new voice in His Angel Chorus!
Sending condolences to the family.
