My sincere condolences to the family! In the short time I came to know Steve at Zion. I instantly knew he truly loved the LORD and his word. We shared a pulpit together at Zion, and when I heard him preach, I was so blessed by his simple true desire to see his fellow brothers and sister in the faith become stronger! Although this sounds very spiritual he was also a very practical man.

Sending deep condolences to Rachel and the girls ( who I love teaching in Kidmax ) and the rest of the family. It was always nice to see Steve’s smiling face during worship time at the Meeting House. I have one memory of Steve to share. It was at my sisters
( Jes Davies) wedding. It was a small reception and a lot of people knew each other well. My Dad was invited but didn’t really know anyone except our immediate family. I remember Steve made a point of talking with him for most of the reception, making him feel welcome and part of the festivities. I never had a chance to thank him for that but it was noticed and appreciated.

I first met Steve at Zion Bible College, back in the 90's. We instantly became friends, as I immediately loved his sincerity and the way he cared for others. We reconnected through Facebook some years ago, and he has been such an encouraging force in my life. I was hoping to see him next summer when my family visits Toronto. I am truly heartbroken, and am so sad for this beautiful family. I feel like I was just chatting with him the other day, and now he is gone. To me, Steve was an example of the best of humanity, of how we can be as close to our best. I will honor his life with #FaithFilledFridays and by choosing to believe that light will overcome darkness.

On behalf of our family, Jesse, Sarah, Gabriel, James, I send condolences to Steve's family. Steve was always a special person in my books. I was privileged to be one of Steve's Sunday School teachers when he was a teenager in Montreal. He was open-hearted and curious; warm and genuine. He had a tender, loving soul that was evident even during the difficult teen years. And he was a wise, caring one. It saddens me that I did not reach out more over the years; certainly it was my loss. I am not surprised that he was surrounded by people who loved and appreciated him. I'm sure he was a wonderful father and husband and that above all else he would want his little family to continue to grow, to love one another and to keep on trusting God. You will be in my prayers. With all sincerity and affection and sadness, Nikki Everts-Hammond.

Oh I am so very sad to hear of Stephens passing. He was in our Beamsville Christian Business Leaders group and I enjoyed his insights and his love for his family. He was a "breath of fresh air" and I looked forward to seeing him at our group. I have been missing him with our Covid situation and would wonder how he was doing.
I am so very sorry for your great loss, Rachel and your children. May you find strong support with our forever family and your children new "Aunts and Uncles" to expand your family.
We know Stephen is singing with the best in Heaven and is waiting for his dear family to rejoin him one day.
Many huge hugs to you, Rachel.
In His great love,
Cheryl

Steve was my youth pastor in Sudbury when I was about 14 years old. He was a very inspiring personality and had such a positive outlook on life that was contagious. I enjoyed our jams together when I could barely play an instrument, my lack of ability at that time never seemed to bother him at all. There's a song called 'Save Tonight" that always brings back to fond memories of him, we used to play it together on guitar when it was popular.
He was such a great man!
