We are so sad to hear Auntie Bertha has passed away. It stirs up a lot of memories, reminding us of how close our families were, living next to each other on Renforth, with our shared sidewalk and backyards. These are some of the special things our families enjoyed growing up together. Regularly our mothers would run back and forth, in their housecoats, to visit each other over a cup of coffee. Whenever Auntie Bertha visited our mom (Stella), we made sure we were all playing within earshot because Auntie Bertha always had so much interesting information to tell. She was able to turn a simple life incident into an incredibly interesting and funny story. Auntie Bertha was always in the know, about the family and the neighbourhood. If you wanted to know something, she was the go-to person. She was a great story teller. Her stories were extremely interesting, happy and funny. Even when she was upset over something that happened or went wrong, she was able to turn that into colourful humor with the help of a few ‘choice’ polish words. And if it was something, they didn’t want us children to know, Auntie Bertha and mom would say it in polish.
Auntie Bertha had an incredible memory, recalling anything from when people were born, when they were sick, what they were sick with, which needles they had, and any other occurrences within the Nail clan.
She was a very loving mother, protective of her children and family and always very friendly to everyone. Her bright cheerful eyes and warm smile is deeply etched in our memories. Auntie Bertha is certainly loved and will be dearly missed.
Our hearts go out to you, the family. We keep you in our prayers, asking God to give you the comfort you need, the strength to endure your grief, and faith in His promised resurrection.
All our love, Ron & Carol Nail and family.

My sincere condolences to the family of Aunty Bertha. I have lovely memories of Aunty Bertha, who lived next door to my Dzi Dzi and Babcia on Renforth Avenue in Etobicoke. I spoke with Aunty Betha a number of times when Wayne Haroutunian Jr. was boarding at the house during his University years. I wish the family peace and strength at this time. God Bless

I remember the first time I met Auntie Bertha, I realized immediately what an incredibly strong woman she was. It was also evident how funny and loving she was, family meant everything to her. Sandy talks about the last time he spoke to her, how they were supposed to get together and share a glass (or bottle) of good bourbon. :) Sadly, that was not meant to be. So we'll be sure to raise a glass in her honour tonight...you were so loved Auntie Bertha. Stolat and Rest In Peace.

We sincerely send our love and condolences to the family.
Growing up right next door, I have wonderful memories of my Aunt Bertha who will always have a special place in my heart. My Godmother was like having a second mom. Whether making sure I had my winter hat on before driving all us kids to school, or giving me royal holeda for stepping in duck poop in her backyard again, she always made me feel loved. She was fun to joke with. She loved "sweet marie" chocolate bars, Tom Jones, and always sung about how she'd "rather be a hammer then a nail". lol. I vividly remember her wonderful laugh and smile. She was very smart and very witty. I even learned a few adult polish words from her.....think ducks-backyard. lol.
I/we love you very much Auntie Bertha. You will always have a special place in my heart.

Grandma Bertha (Babcia to our boys), you are and will be dearly missed. You touched so many lives and gave of yourself so generously! We will miss your sharp wit, your stories, and your exemplary selflessness. You were an example for us all of what it means to be truly devoted to family and serving others. We know you'll be watching over the amazing family you helped build! Love, Jeff, Ashley, Max & Ben

Sad to have her leave us. Very glad for her new beginning.
Our dear Auntie Bertha will live long in our hearts. Such a special Aunt to have living next door. She was such a big part of our lives, sharing ups and downs and life's milestones. Will always remember Auntie Bertha and our mom sharing coffees
while we listened to her interesting stories and updates on family, friends and neighborhood news. We enjoyed her teasing and chuckled at her jokes. She made us 'howl' in laughter her with her comic real life antedotes. We always loved her company. I ll remember her as very caring of others and brave. She raised a beautiful, beautiful family. God bless her.
My sincere condolences to all of you. Love her and will miss her dearly.
xo Love Peggy

My deepest sympathy to Aunt Bertha's beautiful Family. You truly surrounded Aunt Bertha with so much love and care especially in the last few years.
I remember Aunt Bertha always with a twinkle in her eye ready for an anecdote. She remembered everything.... and from all generations! And she always found the humour no matter what the situation.
Aunt Bertha will be missed but always remembered with love. May she be truly resting in peace.
Love,Tammy
