Your mother/grandmother certainly had a heart for those less fortunate as shown by her commitment to Ten Thousand Villages. Her energy, faith, and outgoing personality allowed her to achieve her goals, despite any obstacles. She was a "cheerleader" at Pleasant Manor, as well. Katy will be sadly missed by family and friends, but her love and faith will live on.

Dear family:
Katy will be dearly remembered as a member of Bethany Mennonite Church. She was also a faithful attender to our monthly Country Gospel Sing-a-Longs at Pleasant Manor. She even suggested and contributed songs. We will miss her there when Covid is over and we resume this activity.
Blessings

Our sincere condolences on the loss of your dear Mother, Grandmother. It's hard to lose your mom no matter what the age. May God wrap his loving arms around you as you carry on without her. These times are especially hard when personal connections are so limited. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

We can’t express how much Katie meant to us over the years. Your mother was someone whose light shone on everyone around her. That light will be deeply missed. She was a kind warm hearted person who opened up her heart and her home and always made us feel like we were part of the family. Thanks for all the wonderful memories. Our condolences to you and your wonderful family. Connie, Robert, Brandon, & Connor Smith.

Ken, Bob, Judy, Lynda and Susan. I am so sorry to hear you've lost your mom. My heart goes out to you all as I know there is nothing that can fill the hole that leaves in your hearts. Since we can't share in a visitation in person, I thought I'd share a memory with you here. Our moms were friends so naturally we spent time together as families when we were younger. However, Katy became special to me later through my involvement with the Bethany Ladies group and also working on various committees at Bethany. That is where I learned how much she genuinely cared about people. When she was my prayer sister she gave me a poem with a stone on it. I can't remember the poem, but I still have the stone. I keep it because it reminds me of her. She also gave me many Ideals books over the years. I pray that you will find comfort in happy memories and in knowing that your mother was loved by many. May God give you strength for the coming days. Linda Van Bergen

Dear Ewert family,
My condolences to all of you ! I got to know Katie at church and worked with her on several committees. She was a passionate lady about the things she believed in. I loved her for her work at ten Thousand Villages! She was determined to help under privileged people around the world by opening a Fair trade store in Niagara on the Lake. The locals and tourists would be educated about the needs of others and how they could help....to admire, enjoy and purchase products made by skilled artisans thus helping them to have a better life. Katie, with friends, was able to fulfill this dream for 35 years and I was privileged and proud to be part of that for 20 yrs to help Katie accomplish this good endeavour. I loved her laugh and the talks I had with her. She loved her family and was very proud of all her grandchildren. I talked to her many times at Pleasant Manor while she puzzled and played scrabble.
I know she was tired near the end but missed seeing her during the last months because of Covid .
Rest In Peace Katie .
Sincerely
Anne Marie Litke
