Kind, generous, so many words can be used to describe Mrs. Fransen, but to me "CLASSY" sums it up best.
Rest in peace Hilda,

I met Hilda only a few times but I clearly remember that she always had a certain dignity, which is also how she treated other people. I knew Dave and Barb much better and would like to extend my sincere condolences to them. Bill Janzen, janzenw@sympatico.ca

Sending love to all of you and remembering such fantastic visits your parents and you and even a couple grandkids! The first time I ever saw a pool table was in your basement! More wonderful memories developed over the years and we so appreciated and enjoyed your mom’s visits even after your dad, and my dad passed. We do look forward to meeting up with you at some time. Meanwhile, blessings to all you.

Condolences to the Fransen family for the loss of Hilda. I have vivid memories of taking piano lessons with "Mrs. Fransen" back in the late 60s/early 70s. I'm pretty sure I wasn't one of her best pupils, but she never seemed to get frustrated with me and was always positive. It is to her that I credit my success at getting my Conservatory Grade 8 piano, as well as my Grade 2 Theory. I'm still lousy at playing piano, but I was actually pretty good at music theory, and to this day I use what she taught me whenever I sing in choirs - I can always find the notes and reading music still comes naturally. Thanks Mrs. Fransen!

Dear Carolynn, Jerry and David. My deepest condolences on the loss of your mother. I was just checking on my mother’s tributes (Mom passed away Jan 6) and saw your Mom’s obituary. We were literally talking about your family yesterday with my father. I have many great high school memories of time spent at your home in Vineland. Such wonderful times.
Loosing a loved one during Covid restrictions adds a whole new level of complexity to the grieving process. My thoughts are with you at this time of great loss.

Growing up in Vineland we lived just a few doors down from “Aunt” Hilda and “Uncle” George. The Funks have so many fond memories from the countless hours we spent together with the Fransens boating on Lake Ontario and summer vacations up north. Hilda was also my baptismal witness when I joined the Vineland church in 1978. Our thoughts and prayers are with you David, Carolyn and Gerry.

Dear Jerry and Fransen family,
Our condolences on the passing of your mother/grandmother. Always enjoyed a quick visit in the grocery store and of course, Ken recalls her patience and kindness as his music teacher ( I can only imagine) and the quick school lunch time pool games at your home ( did she know?)
We grieve her passing with you,

Growing up just a few houses away, the Goertzens and the Fransens shared many life experiences through these many years. Being both family and friends, we all have treasured memories. Aunt Hilda was known as the friendly face at the window in between all those piano lessons, the personal voice that answered many a phone call, and the firm tone in teenage conversation at the door. She stayed right in the neighborhood that was hers. She was a Blessing throughout our lives and we enjoyed many impromptu fun visits in later years at Orchardview Apartments. Please accept our sincere condolences. Yes, she finished the race. And she ran it well.

Condolences to all of you, the Fransen family. One of my memories of your Mom was her love of music when I was her student. She would show me how a piece of music should really sound after I labourously would clink it out on the keys. She would sit down on that bench and let the music flow...that was my favourite part of the lesson, listening to her play.
Another memory was when I worked at the UMHome in the laundry and we would deliver the laundry to her section, I loved how her eyes would sparkle at the sight of all that laundry and she would always give a gracious comment of gratitude.
Safe in the arms of Jesus.

Thank you for sharing these details of her early life - most of which I did not know.
