I was very surprised and saddened when talking to a fellow Y member to find out that Terry had passed away. Although I didn’t know Terry well, I always enjoyed our brief chats - whether between sets on the exercise floor or in the locker room. I appreciated his ready smile and sense of humour as well as his innate decency. I will miss him.

My name is Bob Savage and I have known Terry for many years at Stelco. I am struck by the many parallels in our lives . We are both Queen’s Metallurgy grads, both McMaster MBA grads and both worked in Primary Operations at our respective Steel mills .
Being a Dofasco guy , we were ‘competitors’ but our friendship grew over the years because we understood that sharing information was more important than not particularly in safety, environment, practices etc.
I recall our road trips together to various technical meetings within the industry usually with Bill Carroll driving the bus!5 . We laughed a lot and Terry’s laugh always stood out!
Terry’s death came as a shock and I have reached out to Brian Mullen and he , in turn,to Greg Thomas who were also Queen’s Metallurgists who worked in the steel industry.
Jane , my deepest condolences to you and your family. Terry will be missed. Bob

My fondest career memories were as an Industrial and Systems Engineer (computer jockey) in support of Terry's BOF steelmaking operation at Stelco. More than once, I couldn't keep a straight face as Terry fairly and eloquently coached myself or others towards self betterment.
Glad to hear that Terry was able to have some enjoyable retirement years with the people he loved.
My sincerest condolences.

Jane and Family,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Terry's passing. I first met Terry in the fall of 1969 in Nicol Hall @ Queen's University where we both were studying in the small class (12 classmates) of Metallurgical Engineering. I recall Terry regaling us with his enthusiasm on playing with the Grimsby Peach Kings. Fast forward 30 years and I had the good fortune of having a mutually rewarding professional vendor/client relationship with Terry at Stelco Hilton Works . There I got to balance his sometimes gruf approach to his job with the more relaxed occasions shared on the golf course and attending hockey games where he always enjoyed a good laugh.
I trust the memories of the many good times that you and your family shared with Terry will help you all during this difficult time.
Terry was a valued friend.
Sincere condolences

Sincere condolences to Jane and all the family.
Worked with Terry at Hilton works Steelmaking Division for the better part of 10 years and witnessed on a daily basis his total commitment to the company. Terry was extremely passionate on any task and down deep he cared for everyone. I feel fortunate in knowing that I got to now the tender side of the "teddy bear".
He will be missed.

Seldom has anyone had the command of the English language that Terry did and that most certainly holds true within the ranks of steelmakers. We always considered it a privilege to be on his team and he had a knack for putting together a great one and getting the most out of it. He knew his people by name ( and we got used to hearing them often). I spent the best years of my career in Stelco working for and with Terry. He was a man who knew where he wanted us to go as an organization, he set the bar high and most often we stretched ourselves and made it. I am grateful for lessons learned directly and indirectly while under his jurisdiction and I am both shocked and deeply saddened to hear of his sudden passing.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Jane and family in this time of grief. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. I expect I will miss his impromptu "pep" talks the most.

Love and condolences, particularly, to Jeff and Erin. I remember you well, Jeff, and (forgive me) think I also had you, Erin, as a student at BDSS. Your dad was just 2-1/2 months older than me. And I see you in his looks and character described well in the obituary. As the laughs and tears of remembrance come, may you find much comfort in the days ahead.

Terry and I went to elementary school together and were friends for a long time - in fact he chipped his front tooth playing hockey in our basement. We played junior fastball together but we drifted apart and did not reconnect until we planned the 50th reunion in 2019. His passing reminds us to cherish every day as well as those we meet along the way. Our deepest sympathy to Jane and the family , Mike & Carol

I was only lucky enough to work for Terry for the last four years before I retired. He was a dedicated straight-shooter. He demanded and showed respect and loyalty. He led in his own way. Had Stelco been lucky enough to have had more like Terry the company would have fared much better than it did. He will be missed.

As a former Stelco manager, I had many dealings with Terry in his senior management roles in the Steelmaking Department. To survive in Steelmaking, you had to be a hardass--it was the culture. But Terry was really a teddy bear--too bad he wasn't often allowed to show his warm side. My condolences to the family--Terry was a good, capable man to work with and I have nothing but good memories.
