On many occasions, we would meet Johanna and her husband. Family occasions, Grandparent Days at Heritage Christian School in Vineland and so many more times in the decades I have known the Hoogendams. Always interested in our lives and sharing of theirs. Our thoughts and prayers are with the many family members who are not able to be at the funeral and those who are physically present, especially Dad Hoogendam.

When I still lived in Ontario, I asked mom what her favorite verse was. She told me it was Psalm 46:10. “Be still and know that I am God.” I praise God that she knew Him and is now with Him in glory.

Our condolences to the Hoogendam family with the loss of your beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her love for her Lord and her family was evident to all those who knew her. May you experience God's peace, presence and comfort during this time of loss.
Psalm 91: 1,2
"Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord.
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him."

I will miss Oma a lot. I'm thankful that I was able to visit with her many times the past couple of decades. She knew I liked to mail cards, so she gave me many of her repurposed cards over the years. She occasionally mailed me a recipe she liked, and enthusiastically embraced the Black Bean Burgers recipe I sent her. Oma made a special effort to be at my son's baptism a few years ago. I'm thankful for the many memories I have of my times with Oma.

My funniest memory of Mom was many years ago. She applied a chapstick to her lips and made mention of how big the applicator was and of how sticky it was. When I looked at her chapstick I told her, “Haha, of course it is sticky. That is a glue stick!”
